Cynthia L. Blaschak Field
The Blaschak Field was prone to stormwater drainage issues, limiting softball play due to weather. K&W provided solutions to increase the usability of the field and to upgrade to NCAA Division III softball standards.
The synthetic turf surface includes an underdrainage system for play in all weather conditions. It is the first turf system designed specifically for softball with thousands of testing hours for ball speed, line, and bounce analysis. The result is a durable, low-maintenance field designed specifically for safe, consistent play. High-performance fibers work to protect high-traffic areas while providing lower maintenance needs. A custom, school logo was added to the outfield design.
Athletic field lighting was installed for the first time in the field’s history. LED technology provides less glare and uniform illumination levels. New modular dugouts were added for each team and portable bleacher units were installed on asphalt.
The scoreboard was moved and upgraded, and service gates were added to the updated 6’ high vinyl-coated chain link fence around the perimeter of the field. A new 40’ high chain link backstop enhances safety measures for all in attendance.
Improvements at the softball field improve player safety, benefiting student-athletes, coaches, and the community.
The new facility earned a 2025 ASBA Distinguished Single-Field Facility Award.
