Thoughtful planning leads to new building’s success
K&W provided site design, permitting, and construction administration services for the development of a new 7,000-square-foot, single story Borough Building with a partial basement to house administrative offices and the Police Department. Our staff worked with Hummelstown Borough and the Lower Dauphin School District to arrange for a 3-acre subdivision of the 55-acre school property along Quarry Road (State Route 2005). As part of this cooperative effort, K&W coordinated joint parking facilities and design of a pedestrian pathway for student traffic through the Borough property.
This project required detailed coordination with a geotechnical engineer in an effort to adequately address the underlying sinkhole activity. K&W employed unique Best Management Practices and developed specially designed rain gardens and detention facilities in order to comply with the NPDES permit requirements. The site design included extensive landscaping and the preservation of several specimen trees. Permitting services also included PennDOT permits for the driveway access and utility crossings for the water and sewer connections.
