Stadium gives sports organizations place to call home
K&W worked with Shippensburg Area School District to create a plan for comprehensive improvements to its athletic facilities. The District’s existing natural grass fields were used heavily, and multiple athletic programs needed a place to hold practice, games, and meets.
After adjusting the master plan study to create a stadium instead of two synthetic turf fields with amenities, K&W provided basic design, permitting, and construction period services.
The new stadium features 2,000 ADA-compliant grandstand seating (home and visitor sides) with pressbox, a 6-lane, 400-meter running track, and field events such as shot put, discus, long jump/ triple jump, high jump and pole vault.
The synthetic turf field was created to allow play for athletic competition for soccer, field hockey, and football. The stadium will also be used for physical education classes and marching band.
New athletic and site lighting, a new multi-sport scoreboard with video display, and electrical are included in the renovations.
