Meade Heights Infrastructure Programming and Design

Penn state harrisburg
Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County, PA

K&W helped Penn State Harrisburg to explore the potential development of the Meade Heights area of its campus to support a new 5,000 seat soccer stadium for university and commercial use. Our team evaluated existing site features, including utility and roadway systems, in order to identify infrastructure improvements needed to support the development of a new stadium on this portion of the campus. Designers analyzed zoning issues, traffic impacts, and stormwater management associated with the proposed improvements. The team also explored the use of alternative energy sources, including solar, in conjunction with the initial improvements and future development.

K&W site designers met with university administrators and staff to discuss program needs based upon current and future demands. We developed a Conceptual Site Layout Plan for the development of a stadium facility, possible commercial buildings, and associated parking in order to provide a ‘basis of design’ for estimating utility demands and evaluating roadway infrastructure needs.

As a result of this investigation, we also developed an Infrastructure Improvements and Lease Area Plan associated with potential future development. The team provided a construction cost estimate and a conceptual project schedule for implementing the proposed improvements.
