Stadium Renewal Improves Form and Function

K&W provided programming and site design services for the complete renewal of Dover Area School District’s stadium. The project included a new synthetic turf multisport field and the replacement of the existing synthetic running track. The new plan also created a multi-level entry plaza with a ticket booth and spectator viewing area, storage, and a new concession / restroom building.

Existing grades in the parking, plaza, and entry areas required unique engineering solutions to create an aesthetically pleasing configuration that was functional and accessible. K&W created a series of retaining walls to alleviate the grading issues and provide access between the spectator viewing areas. A new subsurface drainage system was installed to improve stormwater management. To resolve traffic concerns, K&W designed a new vehicular entrance and drop-off area, new pedestrian walkways, new emergency vehicle access and parking improvements. Our team managed a compressed land development and permitting process to accommodate the District’s athletic events schedule.
