Site improvements include:
- Offsite extension for public sewer and system connection
- Offsite extension for public water and system connection
- Sewage pump station design
Challenges
- The nearest public sanitary sewer system was located approximately 3,500 linear feet from the property and required traversing grades at elevations higher than that of the property.
- The nearest public water supply system was located approximately 2,700 linear feet from the subject property.
- The developer requested the sewage pump station be designed so that the capacity could be increased to accommodate an additional 350 future homes with minimal expense.
- Felton Borough required that all homes along the proposed sewer main extension be connected to the new gravity sewer system.
Solutions
- K&W designed an offsite sanitary sewer extension within the right-of-way of Main Street (S.R. 2054) and an associated onsite 80 GPM pump station to serve the proposed development and numerous existing residences along the path of the extension. The pump station was also designed so that the impellers could be changed to increase the pump station capacity to 180 GPM to accommodate the additional flows from an adjacent residential subdivision without any additional modifications to the pump station or forcemain.
- K&W coordinated with the Red Lion Municipal Authority to design a 12" water main extension within the right-of-way of Sechrist Flat Road (S.R. 2081).
