How We've Grown
Founded in 2005, K&W has evolved into a full-service site design firm comprised of civil engineers, landscape architects, and land surveyors. Our expert staff blends a deep understanding of the regulatory process with excellent public presentation skills to secure the regulatory approvals you need. With a broad background in projects ranging from educational to healthcare and residential to commercial, we are able to draw on a wide variety of experience to develop create and cost-effective designs to meet our clients' needs.
Who We Are
Thomas P. Wilson, PE
Principal
Tom provides civil engineering services to both governmental and private sector clients, oversees projects as Principal in Charge, and manages the firm's financial, administrative, and human resources functions. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from East Stroudsburg University, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, and a Masters of Engineering Administration from George Washington University. Tom is a registered Professional Engineer in several states, a LEED Green Associate, has an American Society of Healthcare Engineering Construction Certification and an OSHA 10-Hour Certification. He serves on the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) Board of Directors and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Most recently, Tom accepted a position to serve on the American Heart Association Heart Walk Executive Leadership Team.
J. Marc Kurowski, PE
Principal
Marc has specialized in land development and site design for 20 years, providing services for clients in the educational, institutional, commercial, and residential development sectors. At K&W, he is primarily responsible for operations and business development, while also acting as Principal-in-Charge for many projects. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, is a LEED Green Associate, and is a registered Professional Engineer in PA. A graduate of the 2008 Leadership Harrisburg Class, he is also the Chairman of the Harrisburg Authority Board of Directors, received the Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Award, and was the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man of the Year in 2010.
Anne E. Miller, CPSM
Business Development Director
Anne is responsible for firm-wide business development efforts including client relations, lead generation, trade show attendance, and strategic planning for specific target markets. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from The Pennsylvania State University, is a Certified Professional Services Marketer, and is currently the President of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Central PA.
Daniel D. Wise, RLA
Project Manager
Daniel has vast experience working on residential, recreational, commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal projects. A registered Landscape Architect in PA and MD, Daniel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from The Pennsylvania State University and an Associate of Arts degree in Business Studies from Harrisburg Area Community College. He is a LEED Green Associate, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, received the OSHA 10-Hour Certification, and has completed the Certified Professional in Erosion and Sedimentation Control training course.
Jeffrey A. Shyk, RLA
Landscape Architect
Jeff provides comprehensive landscape architecture and land planning services, as well as on-site client support through construction observation for varied land development projects. He is a Registered Landscape Architect in PA and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University.
Matthew R. Fisher, EIT, SIT
Project Professional
Matt has experience providing site layouts, stormwater management design, and environmental permitting services for multiple market sectors. He is both an Engineer in Training and a Surveyor in Training, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
Douglas E. Firestone
Environmental Specialist / Project Professional
Doug has more than 15 years of specialty experience providing environmental assessments, wetland mitigation, stormwater management, permitting, and providing municipal engineering services. He has completed studies in Forestry at the University of Marine, Mechanical Engineering Technology at Harrisburg Area Community College and Construction Engineering Technology at The Pennsylvania State University.
Kris Raubenstine
Project Professional
Kris has experience providing civil engineering services including site layouts, stormwater management, highway culvert design, road design, and forest conservation reports for clients in various market sectors. He has a Bachelor's degree in Geoenvironmental Studies and a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Shippensburg University. Kris has also completed training to conduct Forest Stand Delineations and Forest Conservation Plans.
Steven P. Roe
Senior CADD Technician
Steve is a professional CADD designer / drafter and has provided services for projects in educational, healthcare, commercial, residential and institutional sectors. He has an Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design from York Technical Institute and is a Certified Drafter through the American Design Drafting Association. Steve has experience working with AutoCAD 3D, Land Desktop, Civil 3D, and Vault.
Matthew P. Davis, SEO
Surveyor / Wetlands Specialist
Matt is a survey technician and a wetlands / infiltration specialist, providing services across varied land development market sectors. He has an Associate’s degree in Applied Science, Horticulture from Pennsylvania College of Technology and is certified through the Pennsylvania Association of Sewage Enforcement Officers. Matt has received the OSHA 10-Hour Certification, a Wetland Delineation Certificate, and has completed the Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation and Management Training.
Gary L. Olson, PLS
Surveyor
Gary is a senior surveyor with over 40 years of experience providing boundary, topographic, ALTA, wetland, stakeout, hydrographic, and right-of-way surveys. He has worked on projects across multiple market sectors including commercial, transportation, and residential. He earned an Associates degree from Penn State University and is licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor.
Taryn B. Kuhn
Marketing Coordinator
Taryn oversees the marketing efforts of the firm including collateral, advertising, public relations, social media, and online engagement. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from York College, a Master’s certificate in Public Relations from the University of Maryland, is an Inbound Marketing Certified Professional, and has received training through the National Incident Management System and FEMA in Crisis Communications.
Megan L. Wade
Office Administrator
Megan is responsible for daily office operations including general administration, bookkeeping, accounting, and oversight of vendors and insurance. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Central Penn College and a Master’s in Business Administration from Wilkes University.
Kimberly Sheffield
Receptionist
Kimberly is the office receptionist and administrative assistant. She works with the office administrator preparing plan submissions, organizing contract files, and handling incoming and outgoing mail. Kimberly has a Bachelors degree in Business and Deaf Studies from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is fluent in American Sign Language.
